Default Lord of the Rings Collection Blu-ray Full Details

So the blu-ray boxset that everyone has been waiting for is coming out in April and below is a trailer and the full specs of what's on the discs. Pitty it's not the Extended versions of the movies but still a must have.

New Line Home Entertainment, in conjunction with Warner Home Video, will release 'The Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy' on Blu-ray on April 6, 2010. Release details are largely unchanged from those revealed early in the year (see blu-ray.com, June 24). The nine- disc box set will contain the theatrical versions of the movies, along with more than seven hours of special features (on three regular DVDs), digital copies for each film, and previews for the extended versions of the films (which will come out on Blu-ray "at a later date").

A week later, Warner Home Video will release the 1978 animated version of J.R.R. Tolkien's epic.

Warner Home Video has now released the technical specifications and full special features for this title. Video will be presented in 2.40:1 1080p, whereas audio will be 5.1 Dolby TrueHD. Subtitles will be provided in English, French, German, Spanish, Bulgarian, Croatian, Czech, Hungarian, Latvian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, and Slovenian.

It's a money making scheme, a year or so after this they will probably release the extended editions on Blu-ray.

Why can't we get the extra's in HD too, or are we only half way into the HD generation?

Sorry, but as much I like LotR I won't be getting this.

For those that haven't seen the Extended version, it is so much closer to the book (ie. superior) than the Theatrical release and is clearly just an attempt at raking in the cash, as they could easily have included both editions in one package.
But then LotR was an epic and not many films come even close to what it achieved, so I don't really blame the companies for milking it - they just won't be getting may cash

Have to agree. Only the ignorant few will even consider wasting their money on this. I shall wait for the Extended Edition thank you very much

It doesn't seem worth it imo. I've got the DVD extended editions, and i definitely want LOTR on BR, but i'll wait for the extended edition BR as well.
